You're the new what?!?! Have they lost their minds???

Well I've come to a resolution for what I'll be doing this Summer.

One of my co-workers quit, who was in line to be manager this Summer. This puts the current managers in an awkward position, since they will be gone by the end of the week. So bottom line is, I'll be the manager quite soon.

Yes people, that's right, I'll be the manager of the Daytona Beach Slingshot. My pay has already significantly increased, and I'll be working more hours.

This Summer I'll be put on a weekly salary rather than hourly wages, and be making a shitload more than I do now (More than double actually). I'll also be given a free place to stay. What I mean by that is the company will pay my half of the rent, but I'll be living with my friend Derek, so I'll just be splitting the remaining half with him.

I think this pretty much seals the deal on where I will be this Summer. Plus, having "Manager of a million dollar a year company at age 20" on a resume doesn't look too bad, now does it?

So swing by some time, if I like you I might give you a free ride. Or three.

Spring Break idiots.

I am really, really tired of Spring Break in Daytona Beach. Most of you must think it would be awesome down here, but it really isn't.

Based on the people and behavior I witness when I am here for Spring Break, I have ZERO hope for America's future. If I ever have kids, they had better not request to go somewhere such as Daytona Beach for Spring Break. If they do, they will receive a savage beating with a short length of hose.

There are really only a few types of individuals that show up around here this time of year. Let's categorize, and why they annoy me

1. Unattractive girls who think they're hot shit because everyone here is drunk enough to fuck anything with a hole. Prime example was the other night at work, some giant mess of a girl was poured into a small skirt and a shirt that stopped about 6 inches after it should have. She had a gut that made her look very pregnant. Based on the way she was drinking, I can only pray she wasn't.

2. Dumb Southern white guys who act like they're black, but make racial slurs against black people (as long as there aren't any around). I'm not sure what it is, but everyone puts on this fake ultra-tough attitude down here. Is it really worth it to act like such a dumbass? Who are you trying to impress (probly group #1)?

3. Pink shirt wearing faggots. Yes, I am saying it for anyone to hear, I think any guy who wears a pink shirt is an idiot. I have been asking some of the girls I know what their opinion of this is, the same scripted response I always get is: "I like it, I think it shows a guy is secure with his masculinity." BULLSHIT. Wearing a pink shirt doesn't say anything about how confident or secure a guy is, it just says he's a complete tool and willing to wear whatever magazines and Mtv tell him too. These morons can act as secure and confident with their manhood as they'd like, I on the other hand am going to show my pride in my masculinity by not wearing women's clothing.

There are more, but I'm tired, sick, and I have work tomorrow.

Sorry for being so caustic, I just needed to vent. I swear I've been in an awesome mood lately, mostly because I will never have to deal with this school or Daytona Beach again after this Summer. I really have no intention to write about negative stuff, but this is really just what I've been dealing with lately.

I have a bunch of paintball tournaments I'll be playing in over the next month or so, that should give me something positive to write about.

This week's music recommendation comes from "The Rolemodels", a Chicago based alternative band. Despite the harsh name of their song, "Let's Go Die", it's actually pretty listener-friendly if you like alternative or hard rock. Get the song here:

What to do this Summer?

WARNING: this blog entry was written at 3:15am after I had consumed at least a dozen beers, probly more, so if it doesn't make sense, that's why....

Anywhere, here's the problem.

I have been offered the chance to work in Spain this Summer.

For those who don't know, I work at a place called the Slingshot (its right off A1A, right next to the new Hilton). I have to choose between working there this Summer and working at a Slingshot in Spain.

Here's the lowdown on why this is such a difficult decision.

The great thing about the Slingshot in Spain is that it's on a tiny resort island off the coast of Spain. Here's how one of my Austrailian co-workers described it:

"The thing about working there is....It's not reality. No one who lives there has a real job. No one there works real hours. If's just a party atmosphere. You'll work til 4am, then drink til 10am, then sleep til you havta be at work again."

Sounds great, doesn't it? The problem is, do I really want to be working in an environment like this for several months before I go off to to Purdue? I wanna do as well as I can there, I don't want to fall into the pattern of partying every night like a madman. When I get to Purdue, my GPA will be reset. It's like a fresh start really. I don't want to fuck that up.

If I stay here and work at the Slingshot in Daytona, I can work all the hours I want and take a few classes at DBCC in my spare time. One of my best friends from high school is getting married this Summer, and there is no way I am missing that. Plus, I already have a paintball team I play for here in Daytona (Team "Infidel"). I really can't imagine an entire Summer without shooting someone in the face.

Problem with staying here in Daytona Beach is that the Slingshot isn't quite what it used to be. Most of the people that made that job awesome are gone, and every time I work it reminds me of them. It's made the job much less fun than it had been, and the only reason I've been working there so long is because of the awesome people I worked with. If it hadn't been for the people I worked with, I wouldn't have stayed for half the Summer and I definetly wouldn't have been back in the Fall.

I am having a hard time with this one, but I am leaning towards staying here.

I am going to start periodically posting some music that I reccomend people check out. First is a band known as "El Centro", an Orange County punk band. You can stream their music from this site. My favourite tracks are No Denial, Just Because, and A.D.D., so give them a try. (when the small music streaming window pops up, make sure to hit the "high bandwith" button at the bottom or it will sound terrible.)

NPPL Super7 Huntington Beach.

Unless you're at least slightly interested in paintball, you won't wanna read this.

Well Huntington Beach was this weekend, probly one of the most hyped tournaments of the year. I am a big fan of the NPPL, mostly because it's 7man instead of Xball, and they are least trying to stop the cheaters, rather than just changing the rules to allow everyone to cheat like in Xball.

Dynasty has been dominating the NPPL the last few years, and I don't like that. It's not that I don't like Dynasty, I'd just rather have real competition rather than the boys in blue stomping everyone at every tournament.

The NPPL did a smart thing by restricting pro to 18 teams this year. Here's the competition:

San Diego Dynasty
San Francisco Avalanche
DC Arsenal
Miami Rage
N.E. Hurricanes
Oakland Empire
Toulouse Tontons
Manchester Shockwave
London Tigers
Sacramento XSV
Los Angeles Infamous
Portland Naughty Dogs
Stockholm Joy Division
Huntington Beach Redz Sedition
London Nexus
Pittsburgh Smoke
OC Bushwackers
Chicago Evil

Here are a few pictures for all those visual learners out there.

That's Avalanche at the starting props.

Andy Kopcok of team Infamous, pointing out some fool he just blasted.

Joy Division in their new badass jersies. Take a Look at them here.

Ryan Greenspan of team Dynasty.

For the prelims, I was shocked that Infamous went 3-5 and didn't make the cut for quarter finals. They were behind Nexus and The Tigers for fuck's sake!

Here's the teams that made Quarter finals and how they ranked coming in:

1. Dynasty (No surprise here)
2. Avalanche
3. Naughty Dogs
4. XSV
5. Joy Division
6. Arsenal
7. Nexus
8. Tigers

I was pretty happy that DC Arsenal made it into the quarter finals, they are like WDP's answer to Dynasty being a bunch of douchebags. Joy Division was no surprise to me, playing 6 days a week for free will do wonders for your game. I just really wish Infamous had made it into the quarters, it would have made the entire division more interesting.

Moving onto the semi finals was:
1. Dynasty
2. Naughty Dogs
3. Avalanche
4. XSV

Seriously, where the fuck did Naughty Dogs come from? They were just flat out awful most of last year, and I'm pretty sure they played terrible at PSP Pomona three weeks ago.

XSV just barely scratched their way into Semi's. I am glad they did, I am a huge fan of their old-school players Rich Telford and Matty Marshall. Those guys have been playing since the days of pump guns. They have been dragging ass on the Ironmen for way too long and its about damn time they formed their own team to ruin some people on the field once again.

Semi finals are structured like this. Dynasty plays Avalance for best of three, XSV plays Naughty Dogs for best of three, the winners move on to play each other in finals while the losers battle for 3rd and 4th.

XSV vs Naughty Dogs was an easy pick for me, I figured XSV would take it, but most might not agree based on how the Dogs played today. I lucked out, and XSV took it in two games. (95- 15, 96-12)

Dynasty vs. Avalanche was a tougher call. I was praying for Avalanche to take it, but it wasn't gonna come easy. In the offseason, Dynasty lured the two best players off of Avalanche. I still had faith, but Dynasty came out on top in three games. (96-12, 12-97, 96-12).

So that sets up XSV vs Dynasty for the $25,000 cash prize for pro and Naughty Dogs vs Avalanche for third.

(I wrote this part before the finals games had been played. I am thinking there is a good chance XSV will take it, because they have an excellent record against Dynasty. Sure Dynasty is a powerhouse of young skilled talent, but XSV is a team of veterans who have the ability and the patience to take down just about anyone on any field. Should be pretty interesting. I predict XSV taking 1st, Dynasty 2nd, Avalanche 3rd, Naughty Dogs 4th.)

Well turns out Dynasty took it in three games, leaving XSV in second. Avalanche dominated the Naughty Dogs for third.

I am dissapointed Dynasty won, I don't hate them all that much, I just wish other teams had a chance against them. As long as Dynasty is the only team making a real yearly salary just for playing, they're gonna be pretty unstoppable. (Russian Legion doesn't count, they get paid a salary and a free place to live, but they only play Xball.)

I'm working on a way to have NPPL Super7 brackets similiar to the ones people make for NCAA basketball. It would really only work for my friends who play paintball obviously, as they're the only ones who would know what the hell is going on. I think $10 a person with the overall pot going to the winner would be pretty interesting.

I'll definetly be looking forward to NPPL Tampa Bay, since there is a good chance I'll be playing with Infidel at that event.

If you made it through all that, I'm impressed. Til next time...Stay Angry.

A new chapter in the Life of Angry Jim.

As some of you may know, I officially ended the "I hate ERAU" blog, because I have been accepted into Purdue. Alot of people have expressed that they want me to keep posting about life at Purdue and how I am doing. I'll be doing that here, as well as keeping a record of my thoughts and various daily happenings. Basically it's a way for anyone to see what's going on in my life at any given time.

This blog will have nothing to do with the old one, if you post comments relating to ERAU, I will probly delete them.

I'll be keeping the name Angry Jim, since I had that name long before I began my blog. The name came from me playing paintball, a very angry sport. Whether I win or lose, I usually walk off the field enraged with adrenaline surging, because that's the kind of game paintball is. Don't think paintball is a real sport? Think it's something army wannabes do? Check out these videos below, you'll see what real paintball is like.

NPPL Super7 Huntington Beach - The best tournament of them all, the best format (7man) and the best venue. The first 20 seconds or so shows you how 'angry' this sport can get.

Roadkill - Compilation video of PSP Xball and NPPL Super 7. Xball requires the least amount of skill out of all formats of paintball, but it's the most fun to watch.

XPSL - Usually paintball is played on grass or artificial turf, this was done in the desert, still some very good footage. Hey, at least it's 7man, the way paintball was meant to be played.

That's just me, with my 'angry jim' practice jersey.

Til next time.
